2021 has been a big year, I have had so many challenges that I’ve had to deal with head on but I’ve also had a fulfilling year in which I am grateful for. The lessons you take from your life, steers you into the person you are today. 2021 has taught me so many things, so here’s 21 of them.
Getting out in nature every single day is vital for sanity reasons.
Music that is relatable to your life is a game changer.
Sometimes the effort you invest into a relationship may not be reciprocated back.
When effort isn’t reciprocated back you need to revaluate that relationship and invest elsewhere.
Being open, honest and transparent is something you should be proud of.
Espresso martinis will never get old.
Working at a job you love, won’t actually feel like work.
When you feel like telling your friends and family you love them, do it. You never know the last time you may see them.
Self-help podcasts really do help the way you think and act.
Being open to love after being closed off for ages is a strength, even if it didn’t work out the way you wanted it to.
People’s actions have more to do with them and their values than you, even if it directly impacts you.
You will never regret doing physical activity, in any way, shape or form.
Life is too short to hold grudges, but that also doesn’t mean letting people back into your life, it means separating the resentment you hold and freeing it from your mind.
Hashbrowns will always be the best hangover food, you will never convince me otherwise.
Ocean swims in the morning in winter is fucking crazy but also the best damn thing for your soul.
Rest is your friend, you’re no good to anyone or anything if you’ve burnt yourself and your health to the ground.
Doing a good deed for the day, even if it’s as little as buying someone a coffee, can change both their day and yours for the better.
Just because you now have a degree doesn’t mean you have to use it straight away.
Running gets easier the more you do it.
You don’t have to give an excuse or an explanation to why you don’t want to do something.
Life is hard, shit comes up that feels like you won’t get over, but you will, and things will be okay again, even when it doesn’t seem like it at the time.
Ask yourself what lessons you’ve learnt from this past year, truly reflect on the person you were in January of 2021 to the person you are today in January 2022. Be proud of that growth and all the achievements you have had in the last year.
Love always,
AC x
